Ultrasonic Inspection
Ultrasound is a high frequency of sound pulses that are emitted from a transducer. The soundwaves propagate through the sample, and reflect at interfaces. The reflected waves are monitored on a detector. The thickness of the sample, and the depth and type of flaw can be assessed using this method on most materials with good sound transmission.
Dye Penetrant Inspection
DPI involves applying a visible or fluorescent dye to the surface of a component. Allowing the dye to enter a discontinuity by capillary action. The method can be applied to any non-absorbent material with uncoated surfaces.
Level III Services
Procedure writing and approval, written practice preparation, personnel NDT qualification, third party consultancy.
Magnetic Particle Inspection
MPI involves the magnetisation of a component, followed by the application of ferromagnetic particles. The particles align along discontinuities in the surface, or shallow sub-surface discontinuities. This method is used to test welds, castings and forgings but can only be used on ferromagnetic materials.
Visual Inspection
Visual testing is a method by which reflected or transmitted light from a test object is viewed with the human eye often utilising optical aids.
